San Diego
Wow! What a fun week!
We got to San Diego Wednesday evening around 8. Kristi picked us up from the airport and we ended up going swimming in the pool and taking a dip in the hot tub before going up to our room. We decided we wanted some pizza and spent FOREVER trying to find a place that delivered to where we were. To say the least...no one was very helpful. Even the front desk gave us two numbers and only the second one worked. I was beginning to think that pizza was not in the cards for us.
Thursday we started our day with a great breakfast buffet at the hotel. They made omlettes cooked to order with all sorts of tasty ingredients. Plus lots of fruit and bacon, french toast, muffins...yummy stuff. After breakfast we headed to the San Diego Zoo with Kristi and baby Noelle. We got there about 15 minutes after opening and it was great. The weather was warm but not too hot yet and we missed a good portion of the crowds. The zoo was great...although it was A LOT of walking. Much more strenuous than the Oregon Zoo. We were lucky to see a lot of babies at the zoo. Not only did they have a baby Giant Panda, but we also saw baby meerkats, otters, deer, and others too. It was great to see all the cute babies. It is too bad the boys weren't there, they would have had a blast...but it was also nice to enjoy the zoo without keeping an eye out for the kids. For dinner we went to Old Town and had a great mexican dinner. I had steak fajitas...and a GIANT strawberry margarita. Yummers!
Friday was basically a wash for us. We had breakfast and then headed up to wine country (where the wedding is being held) and went to the rehersal. Since Kristy and I weren't in the wedding we had some appetizers while we were at the winery for about 2-3 hours. After the rehersal we drove back to San Diego (about an hour) and had a delightful dinner at Carver's Steak and Chop house. It was delicious. For appetizers we had tasty thai chicken on skewers and bbq meatballs. Yummy! I had filet mignon and Joe had the prime rib for dinner...plus I had a few drinks. We were stuffed when we finally left that night. We got home and took a dip in the pool with Brian (Kristi's husband). The pool was a bit cold but we had a nice time in the hot tub. Brian told us about the bachelor party in Vegas and had some fun chatting.
Saturday was the big day. This meant that since Joe and Brian were both in the wedding, we all left the hotel at 9 and headed up to the the groom's house. Brian took off with Mike (the groom) to get the rental car and we heade out for some lunch. After lunch we all headed up to the winery and hung out for about 3 hours before the wedding started. Boy was I ready for it to start! I got to help decorate the chairs with these pretty silk covers and sashes which killed some of the time.
The wedding was beautiful. The sun was just starting to set when the ceremony started and everyone (including my Joe) looked great. The ceremony was fairly brief and then they werved appetizers and wine in the grass while the wedding party took pictures. I got carded (ha ha ha) but I was finally able to try some wine. I am usually not a wine drinker, but they had a really good white wine that I enjoyed. I enjoyed it so much that I had four glasses. They had a great DJ and we all danced until about 11. It was a great time!
The only bummer of the whole trip...
Getting to the hotel at 1:30 and catching a shuttle to the airport at 4:20. Yuck! I slept a lot of the plane and then Joe and I took a nap after we got the boys. I feel MUCH better now:)

I'm glad you had a wonderful time, as I knew you would. Missed out on a lovely party in back, but I'm sure Amber will fill you in. See you soon.
Aahhhh...San Diego. Which winery do you go to? Maurice carie? Or wa it the one on top of the hill looking over the valle? There are times I really miss San Diego. The zoo is a blast and yes it is huge.
Glad you had fun.
