Weekend Update
Well, all I can say is my weekend was the best! Not only was it three days, I also had an absolute blast!
We left in good time on Friday around 1pm and headed towards Pullman. We stopped in the tri-cities for dinner (which ended up taking FOREVER because we let the boys run around at McDonalds). The run around McDonalds was supposed to get their enery out...but it didn't work. I really thought they would fall asleep at some point, but they stayed awake for the whole trip and we didn't get to Pullman until around 8. We spent the night at Joe's sister's house. They have a nice house, which used to be an old farm house. Very homey feeling. The boys were amazed because they don't lock their door to their house (or their vehicles for that matter) and the boys have always lived in the city...so this is very foreign to them. On that note, when we got to the campsite in Northern Idaho on Saturday we were unloading the van and Joe had the keys on the dashboard in the van...and my kids...being city kids...locked the door to the van and shut it...with the keys inside! Luckily there were some handy guys there and between the three of them they were able to get in the van and saved the day!
The people we camped with were great. Joe's sister and family were there, plus some friends from around Pullman. We were right on the St. Joe river. It is quite beautiful out there. I had only been in lower Idaho, which is very dry, but up north it is quite pretty. Very green and serene. One of our camping neighbors had a few dogs and two of them (I think a mother and child dog) were named Flea and Tick. How funny is that!!
We went on a ride on the 4 wheelers. It was a lot of fun. Joe and I went on one and Eliza and John each took one of the boys. We rode for about 20 miles and some of the views were absolutely gorgeous. On our ride we found an old truck, all rusted and probably from the 30s or 40s, and Zan said, "wow, that is old...I bet it is from the 80s!" Boy, talk about feeling old! It is a good thing I wasn't drinking at the time because I would have spit the water out of my mouth...it was quite funny.
We also went on a boat ride and floated in the river on innertubes. The weather was great. In the 80s during the day, although the nights were a bit chilly.
Last night we got home from camping (7 1/2 hour drive later), had dinner, and then headed to Vancouver for the firework show. It was great. We took the shuttle buses from the Vancouver Mall and we all had a blast. We even had some tasty elephant ears...yummy!
Needless to say...I am tired today!
