What famous Leader are you?

How appropriate...Teresa is most like Mother Teresa...lol

Something to do to pass the time

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in comments.
5. Don’t search around and look for the “coolest” book you can find. Do what’s actually next to you.

Weekend update

You all know that I got married on Friday. It went perfect. I don't think it could have gone better if I had planned it for a year. Our neighbor (the minister) did a great job and the ceremony was very meaningful. The boys were really cute when we did our "family vows." We were all holding hands in a little circle saying them. It was great.

After work on Saturday we all went to the BBQ at Sharon's house. We had a blast! The food was great and a lot of kids were there which made it especially fun. We had a balloon fight with all the kids and then the kids got to hit a pinata and got to take home a stash of candy. I think this years BBQ was one of the best. Michelle even brought her little granddaughter. Will tried to keep up with three girls his own age...he was quite a little flirt!

Sunday we went to church and then headed to Joe's apartment to clean it before the end of the month. The kids played over at the park across the street while we were cleaning and they had a great time. Yesterday went by WAY too quick and now it is Monday already... At least next weekend is a 3 day weekend! Yippee!

Zan is pretty much ready for school, but I need to get him a pair of tennis shoes before he starts back. Other than that...we are ready for the new year to start.

Today is the day...

I walk down the aisle today with the love of my life. I can't wait. Everything seems to be in order, it just needs to be 7pm:) My Lex is coming up around 12 and is going to meet me at work. The boys are very excited she is coming to visit.

Last night we went to the movies and saw "March of the Penguins". It was really good. It was narrated by Morgan Freeman and the photography was incredible.
The boys really liked it, except William was upset when one of the penguins was eaten by a seal. It was kind of cute that he was so sensative about it.

Withdrawing...

So, over the years I have heard A LOT of reasons for dropping out of college. From moving, finances, and even that they just don't think they should have to study so much. But NEVER have I heard an excuse like the one today. A guy...not the best looking guy either...is withdrawing because he can't concentrate. Okay...I can deal with that...but then he continues into the "why" he can't concentrate. It is because his fiance isn't having sex with him and if only she would just "give in" then everything would be just fine!

I just don't know what to say...

Kids say the cutest things...

Tonight is Zan's first official soccer practice. Joe asked him if she was excited today and he said no...after a pause Joe asked why...and he said like this...two big days in a row, I don't have enough energy. Not enough time to reload. How funny. I think he is more excited about the wedding than he is about soccer, but I know he will have fun tonight. We packed a sandwich for him tonight so he can munch on some dinner on our way to the school where the practice is being held. It should be a lot of fun to see him practice. Last time he was in soccer my dad took him to practice since I was in school so this will be a special treat. I really am enjoying coming home to them every night. I missed a lot while I was in school and I am really treasuring moments like this.

Two days...

Yeppers...two days until I get married. Woo Hoo! I can't wait. We went to pick out Joe's tie last night so we are pretty much ready to go. Today I am going to get a pedicure on my lunch hour so my toes can match my dress and tomorrow I am picking up my dress. Amber is picking up the rings tonight from the Shane Co. and she will bring them in on Thursday. Everything is coming together:)

Our Vows

Joe and I met with our neighbor/minister on Saturday and figured out what we wanted in our ceremony. It is going to be great. We decided to write our own vows plus we are going to do "Family Vows" where all four of us (Me, Joe, Zan and Will) are going to make vows to each other, like promising to always love each other even when it is hard, etc.

Here are the vows Joe and I wrote:

I promise to help you become the person God has intended you to be.
I promise to encourage you to grow in your faith as I will in mine.
I promise to support our family and foster an atmosphere of love and laughter.
I will help you to fulfill your dreams.
I will listen to, encourage, and comfort you.
I will stand by your side through the challenges and triumphs of life, respecting your unique gifts and honoring you completely.
I promise to be faithful to you, and love you as long as we both shall live.

Things are pretty well figured out for the wedding. I bought shoes for my dress (which I am borrowing from Amber) and I bought pants for Will (he already has a perfect shirt and tie) and Zan we bought a shirt (since he had pants and a tie already). Joe planted a bunch of flowers for our yard where we are getting married, so it looks really great now. We have a cute little wooden "wishing well" planter in our yard and we are going to stand right next to it for the ceremony. Plus we picked out all the music we are going to do. I can't wait! It is going to be a perfect, intimate ceremony. We are planning to renew our vows next summer and hold a big wedding then so everyone can come that would like to be there.

TGIF

Yep...it is Friday! I would normally say "finally Friday" but for some reason this week has flown by. Not that I am complaining! I had coffee today...Anny's treat:) So what out! You all know what coffee does to me. Our garage sale is this weekend. We have quite a bit of good stuff. This garage sale is one that I would actually stop at if I drove by it. I guess that is what happens when you combine two households into one house:) The nice thing will be having some extra money for the wedding incidentals and bills for next month.

Tomorrow morning we are meeting with the minister to talk about what we want in the ceremony. That should be fun.

I called Dusty on Wednesday and he is actually picking up the boys tonight. Zan is very excited. He really misses his dad. It is too bad Dusty doesn't enjoy that...a lot of dad's would be thrilled that their kids want to spend time with them, but he doesn't seem to be bothered by it much. Something inside me keeps thinking he will change, but part of me knows he probably won't...sigh... All I can do is try my best to be the best mom I can and hope it is enough.

It was cute the other night...Joe asked Zan to rate how good of a mom I was from 1-10. He gave me a 10...then Joe asked if I was always a 10 and Zan said...no...
So, Joe asked what he would rate me at the worst and he said a 5...so even at my worst...I am still average. I guess he approves:) What a great little guy.

My loyal blog fans

Well, some of you know...some don't, but this is my official announcement that Joe and I are getting married, Friday, August 26th. Woo hoo:) We are just having my parents, Joe's parents, and his sister, her husband and kids. We are getting married by our neighbor who is a minister and we are going to do it in the front yard.

So much to do...so little time. On top of planning for the wedding, we are having a garage sale this weekend. We are going to be one busy family for the next few weeks.

SmartFood popcorn is evil

Okay...not really...but it IS really tasty and the smell can carry across the office, which is what is happening right now. The evil part comes in because I can't have any...

Diets just aren't fair...but at least the results will be nice and will make me healthier:)

Soccer Clinic

Zan's soccer clinic went very well. There were about 100 kids there and they broke them into groups of 8-12. The kids spent about 10-15 minutes at each station learning new soccer skills. Zan did a great job. He listened well and was very focused the whole time.

I also got lucky on Zan's soccer shoes. We went to Fred Meyer and all their soccer shoes were on sale and the ones that Zan liked were the cheapest ones there. After the discount they were only $14. What a great deal. This weekend I need to get some new shin guards and soccer socks for Zan. His shin guards only go half way up to his knee. He has grown A LOT since he used them last. It is no wonder he looks like he is all legs.

All in all, it was a great night. Will had fun playing at Imagination Station (a really cool play structure at the park by the clinic) and I had fun watching Zan and talking with Charlene (Brent's mom) who was there with her oldest daughter Bianca (who was helping with the little guys).

My sweet Joe

When I got home last night Joe had a tasty (and healthy) dinner all prepared for me. What a sweetie...plus he went to the store and stocked our house with lots of tasty treats, grapes, nectarines, kiwi, bananas, avacados and granola bars. He is so good to me. I really was planning to stop at the store at some point and get that stuff, but it was nice to have there already. Plus this morning he made some tasty blueberry pancakes and cantalope. Yummy! What a great start to the day. He even let me sleep in a bit and is taking the boys to Roxanne's for me. He is a keeper for sure:)

Afternoon slump...

Well, today is Diet: Day 2 and I am currently in my afternoon slump. I really could use some chocolate truffles...which happen to be tempting me from across the room. Or I could go for some tasty chips or a soft pretzel with nacho cheese. Yum! That sounds good.

sigh....

Oh well, at least I can talk about food...lol...

I guess I will go eat some fruit...maybe it will help.

Soccer

Zan is doing soccer again this year and tonight is the first soccer clinic. They use it to help kids get back in the groove of soccer and also scope the kids out to hopefully make even teams for the coming year. Pretty soon they should be announcing the coaches and teams and the season will start. Zan can't wait. He is really stoked this year, which is good. He needs something in life to be excited about. Hopefully it will somewhat take his mind off Dusty not being around.

DIET: Day One

Well, today is day one of my diet...sigh...

It is good, I know...but sometimes it just isn't much fun. I was actually doing really well until 5...then my cravings for munchies kicked in. The only thing I have left from lunch is a can of fruit, which I will probably dip into pretty soon, but that doesn't really satisfy my need for something crunchy and salty...poor Teresa...

Just have to keep my eyes on my goal and keep trucking ahead. I know it will get easier after this first week, plus I need to go shopping and get some healthy snacks to bring to work to "ease the pain" but today I am stuck.

What a great day for the zoo!

San Diego

Wow! What a fun week!

We got to San Diego Wednesday evening around 8. Kristi picked us up from the airport and we ended up going swimming in the pool and taking a dip in the hot tub before going up to our room. We decided we wanted some pizza and spent FOREVER trying to find a place that delivered to where we were. To say the least...no one was very helpful. Even the front desk gave us two numbers and only the second one worked. I was beginning to think that pizza was not in the cards for us.

Thursday we started our day with a great breakfast buffet at the hotel. They made omlettes cooked to order with all sorts of tasty ingredients. Plus lots of fruit and bacon, french toast, muffins...yummy stuff. After breakfast we headed to the San Diego Zoo with Kristi and baby Noelle. We got there about 15 minutes after opening and it was great. The weather was warm but not too hot yet and we missed a good portion of the crowds. The zoo was great...although it was A LOT of walking. Much more strenuous than the Oregon Zoo. We were lucky to see a lot of babies at the zoo. Not only did they have a baby Giant Panda, but we also saw baby meerkats, otters, deer, and others too. It was great to see all the cute babies. It is too bad the boys weren't there, they would have had a blast...but it was also nice to enjoy the zoo without keeping an eye out for the kids. For dinner we went to Old Town and had a great mexican dinner. I had steak fajitas...and a GIANT strawberry margarita. Yummers!

Friday was basically a wash for us. We had breakfast and then headed up to wine country (where the wedding is being held) and went to the rehersal. Since Kristy and I weren't in the wedding we had some appetizers while we were at the winery for about 2-3 hours. After the rehersal we drove back to San Diego (about an hour) and had a delightful dinner at Carver's Steak and Chop house. It was delicious. For appetizers we had tasty thai chicken on skewers and bbq meatballs. Yummy! I had filet mignon and Joe had the prime rib for dinner...plus I had a few drinks. We were stuffed when we finally left that night. We got home and took a dip in the pool with Brian (Kristi's husband). The pool was a bit cold but we had a nice time in the hot tub. Brian told us about the bachelor party in Vegas and had some fun chatting.

Saturday was the big day. This meant that since Joe and Brian were both in the wedding, we all left the hotel at 9 and headed up to the the groom's house. Brian took off with Mike (the groom) to get the rental car and we heade out for some lunch. After lunch we all headed up to the winery and hung out for about 3 hours before the wedding started. Boy was I ready for it to start! I got to help decorate the chairs with these pretty silk covers and sashes which killed some of the time.

The wedding was beautiful. The sun was just starting to set when the ceremony started and everyone (including my Joe) looked great. The ceremony was fairly brief and then they werved appetizers and wine in the grass while the wedding party took pictures. I got carded (ha ha ha) but I was finally able to try some wine. I am usually not a wine drinker, but they had a really good white wine that I enjoyed. I enjoyed it so much that I had four glasses. They had a great DJ and we all danced until about 11. It was a great time!

The only bummer of the whole trip...

Getting to the hotel at 1:30 and catching a shuttle to the airport at 4:20. Yuck! I slept a lot of the plane and then Joe and I took a nap after we got the boys. I feel MUCH better now:)

Last day of work

Woo hoo! Vacation starts tonight at 5...I can't wait! Tonight I need to pack for me and get the boys all packed for their stay at Roxanne's house. We leave around 11 tomorrow so we even get to sleep in a little:)

Tonight we are playing a game of risk with Alexander. It should be fun. I haven't played it since Dusty and I were married. I used to love the game, but I will probably suck at it for a while. I don't remember ANY of my strategies. Oh well, we will have fun anyway.

Sizzling!!!

Wow! It is hot today! Okay it really isn't too hot outside...but inside it is scorching! Right now it is 97 degrees! And no breeze...because we are inside (duh). I am about to run naked through the halls...okay...not really...but man...that would feel good. LOL.

Time for a diet

Joe and I decided to start a diet when we return from vacation. We actually decided this about a week ago because we both want to lose 10-20 pounds...BUT this weekend my cute, little, innocent William made it VERY clear that a diet is exactly what I need.

Everyone who knows William also knows that he is the SLOWEST eater in the world. Besides taking 45 minutes to eat the smallest amount of food. Well, last night he ate A LOT of food and was very proud. So, he gets up from the table and pats his tummy and says, "I ate all my dinner and now I am fat like you Mommy!" After spitting water half way across the room (okay...not really...but if I had been drinking something I am sure this would have happened) I said...gulp...good job William...Mommy is proud of you.

Weekend Update

Besides the exciting news that I got engaged, I actually did quite a few other things too. Friday night the boys spent the night with my mom so Joe and I went to Olive Garden (and saw Anny and her family there) and had some delicious food. YUM! Then we went hot tubbing (which was my birthday gift from Joe last month). It was very relaxing. I think I am going to get my dad a gift certificate for it at Christmas, I know he would love it.

Saturday I went down to Eugene to pick up a few things from my grandparent's house. My grandpa has been staying at an assisted living center and the family has decided to sell the house, so this was my last chance to get my things that my grandma left me when she died.

Yesterday we went to church and then rearranged our house a bit more. We took apart the second set of bunkbeds since Alexis doesn't come up very often and she usually sleeps on the couch anyway. Then we moved the boys bed and moved their game system in their room. Then we moved Joe's computer into the computer room, which is more like an office for both of us now and moved the armoir (from my grandpa's house) into the living room. We decided to put our linens in it so they are more accessible.

Last night we started to watch a movie...but I got tired so I guess we will have to finish it another night.

ONLY TWO DAYS UNTIL VACATION!!

Surprise, surprise

Okay...not really a surprise at all. I finally got ahold of Dusty...and he isn't picking up the boys again. Go figure...

He also isn't taking the boys for his 2nd summer week. He already missed the first summer week, and I have pretty high hopes that he will be missing his third week too. Call me cynical if you want...I just think it is reality.

One more day...

Today is Thursday...which mean tomorrow is Friday. YEAH! I could use a weekend. This week has gone quickly...but has tired me out all the same.

Joe and I watched a good movie last night (although he might disagree that is was good.) We watched Sweet November. I was a bit predictable, but good all the same. We all (Me, Joe, and the boys) went on a bike ride last night and decided to ride all the way to Baskin and Robbins. Yummy. We all had a nice treat and then headed back to the house. It was a nice ride and Zan was excited to go such a long way on his bike. Unfortunately the boys were cranky when we got home and both got in trouble...such in life as a mother. Both were in a good mood this morning though:)

One week to go!

This time next Wednesday I will be headed to the airport with my Joe. Woo hoo! I can't wait. We are going to have a BLAST in San Diego. I can't wait to go to their zoo. I just read online that their giant panda just had a baby too. Just in time for our visit:)

Jen just gave me some tasty tangerine juice by Evolution. Yummy! Joe, you wouldn't like it since it has a ton of pulp in it...but to me it just makes it tastier!

Tomorrow is Zan's last day of summer school. He is very excited it is almost over, but is also quite dedicated to it. This morning when I was talking to him about how he only had two days left he said, "yeah...which means I have to work extra hard today and tomorrow since I don't have much time left". What a good little student:)

Last night Joe and I did some more little home-improvement projects. We got a shelving unit for the garage so we can make a pantry out there to free up some extra space in the kitchen. Plus we got a coat rack for the boys room so they can hang up their coats and hats in their room.

Well, I must get back to work!

Quick update

Camping was great. We had lots of good food and lots of fun. We were camping at clear lake (which because of the lack of snow is VERY small and muddy) but we took a trip to nearby Timothy lake which was great. The water was about 70' and we all went swimming and lounged around in the sun. Now I am trying to catch up on the laundry...whew...I am about half way through it.

Well, I am training our new employee today so I must be off!
