Goodbye 2006, Hello 2007

Happy New Years! Wow! It is already 2007? I was talking to a student today and when he was in elementary school (back in the 60s) his teacher said we would have flying cars by 2003…well, I looked outside and I don’t see any… I am sure we have the technology, but with how horrible drivers on ground it is probably good that we don’t have flying cars.

I hope you will keep me in your prayers. I started looking for a new job again. I took a break over the holiday, but now I am seriously looking again. I have been praying that God prepare a good job for me that is close to home, has good hours, and at least what I am making now. I applied for a job with the water district on Friday, so I am waiting to hear about that.

Originally we weren’t going to do anything for New Year’s, but Joe’s friend Tedd and Stevie invited us to their house in St. Helens. We had a blast. The boys played video games until midnight (they both took a LONG nap in the afternoon.) The boys loved doing that since we don’t usually let them play video games…and definitely don’t let them play for 5 hours! We had a nice dinner and some yummy snacks. Plus I had a couple of yummy drinks. I don’t usually drink, but a couple of times a year I have a drink or two for fun. Stevie used to be a bartender so she can make just about anything. She made me a bit of honey which was really yummy. It pretty much tasted like Bit of Honey, which is one of my favorite candies. Yummers! Joe’s best friend, Brian, and his wife, Kristi, with their little girl Noelle were there too. We had a great time visiting and playing games. We crashed there around 12:30 and had a delicious breakfast before we headed home.

Tonight we are meeting with a family from church who is going to host our life group (or small group/bible study group.) I can’t wait. I think we are going to make a good team. Once a month we are taking a break from our studies and just having some fun and fellowship. We are going to have a game night that night. It will be lots of fun. They have three kids around the ages of the boys, so it will be a very family-friendly group. Hopefully we will have a lot of interest. Our church is starting a new campaign of “40 days of community.” The goal is to get people in the church more involved with small groups, giving everyone a tight-knit “family” to talk to, pray with, and enjoy.

Not much else going on. I hope the New Year is great for you.
